God, I’m sickened, like me mate Bock

Now I know I said that the All Blacks might choke in an earlier post but it was in the context of Ireland being where Argentina are now. I hope to god we get an Argentina Vs France final and it’s quite possible, as to me it looked like Argentina never really broke a sweat in their closer-than-it-should-be tie with Scotland tonight. Mind you I have to agree with ShavyTrevy when he says that Scotland played the bench bloody well tonight, maybe there’s a lesson in there for someone?

Yesterday was something else wasn’t it. First the Anglo’s putting Australia to bed and then The whole of the bar at Dunnsers surprise party in Clohessy’s (Which was a great night BTW) were screaming for the french. A chorus of the Marseillaise was started by Gino (I keep telling him we have to learn the words, Da da daaa da, da, da, daaaaaaaa da, da just doesn’t cut it.)

Now, what about the 6 Nations Vs Tri-nations Argument huh? What hemisphere is going to take the Argies?

P.S. some rather rich comments were texted to Kynan who travelled to Cardiff to support his homeland, The Chick was in the middle of that, natch….

Former international Scrum half Brian O’ Meara should have been wearing a red cap and suit with white trimmings as missing 5 place kicks gave the first XV a get out of jail free card in a game which saw them get out of their own half twice to score two penalties. Highfield dominated the exchanges in almost all departments as you would expect with the money being spentby them this season as they vie for promotion to Div. One. Wasn’t to be though.  Some solid defending by the tightest defence in last years AIL as usual kept Bruff in the AIB Cup for another round.  2nd round Tie Vs Old Crescent, who came through against Naas. (Possibly next weekend, we’ll confirm later).

Bruff penalties by Brian of the Cahill clan .

Whew………

In the Munster Senior Challenge Cup, a slightly depleted first XV never really got going today, UL Bohs were just about better all around. Ian Hanley and Barry Murphy showed flashes of brilliance at times but the seemingly almost non-stop giveaway of penalties by the Bohs pack in particular will give their coach much to ponder in the coming week. They have some work to do if they are to repeat their efforts from last season. We were rather surprised on the sideline that the referee didn’t card a couple of them for consistent fouling. (That’s just a comment in general by the way, it had absolutely nothing to do with the scoreline except maybe to allow Bruff some respite).

Bruff’s lineout didn’t seem to get going at all and they managed to give away most of their lineout ball. When they mixed it in the tight they were more than able for it and managed on quite a few occasions to make some ground but the usual second half kick never materialised, despite being down by a mere 12 points at half time. (They won from a similar margin last weekend).

Anyway, Scoreline UL Bohs 24, Bruff 12.

I have some pics I’ll stick them up later on on the weekend.
