There is a Friendly game/Training match Between the Shannon and Bruff 1st XV’s this coming Friday night, I don’t have the exact K.O. time but I would assume that it’ll be set for about 6:30~ , I’ll update this when I get more info. This will tie in nicely with the warmup planned for the clubhouse afterwards. Nice way to ease ourselves all back into the season as well as preparing the body for the coming weekend in Dublin.
Pitch Floodlighting contractor’s appointment to be announced this weekend.
Over the coming weekend, the contractor for the pitch floodlighting will be appointed.
The works will consist primarily of the Main and front pitches being brought above full match standard lighting levels and the training pitch being divided into two separate training areas with upgraded lighting to both. Ancillary works will include concrete bases, new light standards and cabling and the required switching arrangements.
I would especially like to thank the members of the development committee for having done trojan work on behalf of the club, involving days and nights travelling to other grounds, meeting contractors on site, deciphering the various quotations and comparing proposals from the main tenderers etc. A lot of work has gone into the project to date and following the appointment of a contractor we are confident that work would commence within the following 6-8 weeks.
I must add that it has been a privilege to work with the Dev. Committee members for this, the first of our planned club development projects under their hands. Also we have seen some great work commenced by the squad players in the dressing room area and this should be completed over the next few weeks. It’s great to see the club coming together to complete voluntary works such as this and it shows how strong we are as a club.
The official announcement regarding the contractors appointment will be made after this coming weekend when we finally cross the “t”‘s and dot the “I”‘s so keep watch for developments.
Just a final round-up of last years season before we kick off again.
Works on the Clubhouse
Well done to Eoin, Badge, Derry, Michéal, Pako for the organisation and all the lads involved in the work end of things in the renovation work in the Dressing room area over the last fortnight or so. I’m sorry I wasn’t around to give a hand but the ladies’ holiday plans could not be deferred, that’s the joy of being surrounded by women! Anyway well done guys and thanks for all your work.
This was emailed to me by Thomas Conway in Dublin, wherever he came across it.
The story is true by the way but told very well by you know who……
