J2?s advance to the McInerny Cup Semi-final

What a fantastic comeback in their dramatic 18-17 point win over Old Crescent in the first round on wednesday night, Crescent looked like holding out when they led 17-10 going into the last five minutes but a try by Brian O’Connor and the late penalty edged the Bruff boys into a quarter final meeting with St Senan’s next Saturday.

Old Crescent started well and led 10-3 at the break, Bruff’s score coming from a Richie McAuliffe penalty. Crescent then added a converted try to edge 17-3 in front but a try by Martin O’Rourke, converted by McAuliffe, set up an exciting climax. In a tension-filled last few minutes O’Connor’s try and the penalty from McAuliffe gave the home side a one point victory, 18-17.

This was then followed by a huge 64-10 win over a much depleted St. Senans side on saturday, the J2’s marched into the semi-final stage of the competition to be played this week.

Scores Saturday as follows:  Dave Conway 3 Tries, Donagh McCarthy 2 Tries, Andrew Breen, Richard McAuliffe, Graham Bolger and Pat Dempsey 1 try each. Richard McAuliffe got 8 kicks. 7 conversiona nd 1 penalty, Barry Enright got the other conversion.
