The 3rds made their exit from the Webb Cup with a 14-15 defeat to Old Crescent on Friday night in Killballyowen

Crescent got off to a quick start and were 12-0 up scoring 2 try’s with only 10 minutes gone. Bruff came back into the game and pegged the score back to 12-6 before half time thanks to two long range penalties from the boot of Mark O Connell.

O Connell exchanged penalties with Crescent shortly after half time ensuring a tense finish to the game.  Bruff were again on the score board with 15 minutes remaining, Aiden O Sullivan on the end of a well worked backs move for the home team.  But Crescent had enough left in the tank to see out the game and go on to meet Richmond in the next Round.

The 3rds have made it to the final of the Webb Cup thanks to a hard earned 25-19 victory over Garryowen in Bruff on Saturday. Bruff were quick out of the blocks with Andrew Breen scoring a try which Ritchie McAulliffe Converted.  Garryowen hit back within a few minutes with a try of their own with a second following shortly after. Ritchie McAulliffe kicked two penalties to bring the score to 13-12. John O Sullivan added another try before the break to leave the score 20-12 at half time.

Breen added his second try shortly after the break. No. 8 Shane O Donnell broke from the back of a Scrum and linked with the winger to score in the corner. Garryowen dug in and were rewarded with a try with 15 minutes to go to set up a nail biting finish.

Bruff showed great defensive to hold out and set up a final with Ul Bohemians who beat Old Cresent in the other semi final.

The thirds made it to the semi final of the webb cup with a 31-17 win over Scarriff on Friday night. Bruff went in 14-12 up at the break thanks to trys from Denis Kennedy and Steve O Shea. Bruff added 3 further trys from Seamus Sheahan, Barry Laffan and Mark O Connell, Richard McAulliffe chipped in with 4 conversion. The victory now sets up a cup semi final with Garryowen to be played next weekend in Bruff.
