With the both Division A and B of the south western conference now completed Bruff under 21’s can look forward to completing their remaining fixtures in the upper echelons having finished in the top four of Division B.
Having set out last November with a competitive 8 all draw against Cork Con wins against Galwegians, Sundays Well, and Waterpark were enough to secure the top four spot. During the winter campaign we came unstuck against Shannon UL Bohemians and Bucanneers. Of particular importance for the team and their prospects a number of this young side have caught the eye of the Senior selectors with Andrew White, Graham Bolger, Timmy Quirke, Cedric Laffan all having had AIL involvement. To date there have been some very promising performances from scrum half Cathal O’ Rourke, Tom O’ Callaghan and Andrew Breen. Richie McAuliffe, will benefit from the experience so far this year and with another year available to him at under 21 level can look forward to building on his game. The pack has performed well having bested most sides but they will need to keep up the intensity of their performances if they are to challenge the other top four qualifiers, UCC, Garryowen, Dolphin and NUI Galway.
With three sides to quality to the Final stages there is a glimmer of hope that they can get through. The first of the matches will take place next weekend against UCC in Cork, the at home to Dolphin and Garryowen with the final fixture away to NUI Galway.
As always all support is very much appreciated. Why not come along and support us?
