On Saturday saw us make the journey to the north coast of Dublin to play Skerries’s in rd 14 of the Ail, in horrific conditions the game was played on their new synthetic pitch. Skerries’s got of to a good start and went 3-0 up after 10 and increased it to 10 when we were done to 14, pity the final pass which was blatantly forward was missed by the officials. Bruff dug in against the elements but conceded another before halftime, we got ourselves territory near the end of half but were unlucky not to score before half time. The second half saw no improvement in conditions and although we fought to the end Skerries’s ran in 2 try’s to our 1 with Johnny Cleary scoring and Kevin converting. I’m sure the lads will be very frustrated with a lot of aspects of the game, but will have to get back on track for our away trip to Bangor on Saturday week. Skerries’s were playing their first league match on their new pitch but judging by the state of our lads knees and elbows with open cuts and bruises, they won’t be sorry to see the back of plastic pitches.

Our seniors after enduring some frustrating defeats of late got back to winning ways on Saturday last against Omagh scoring 5 try’s in a scoreline of 37-19.  The Team have endured a difficult season on the injury front with some key players missing at different stages of the season.  We started well and scored of a maul with Cillian Rea touching down Kevin McManus added a super conversion to make it 7-0. We doubled our lead after 25 mins when Sean Darcy went over in the same corner again Kevin added the extras. Omagh missed a penalty and Kevin kicked another 3 pointer on the stroke of half time to give us a 17-0 lead. We got off to a good start after half time when Kevin made it 20-0 but credit to Omagh who fought back with a try converted to give them hope but Bruff managed to wipe it out with try from Johnny Cleary to make it 25-7 Kevin was just wide with the convert, Kevin rounded off a fine afternoon with a bonus point try and was unlucky when his conversion hit the post. Graham sealed the win 2 minutes later when he crossed the line Kevin made it 37-7. Omagh to their credit never stopped trying and were rewarded with a penalty try  to make it 37-14 and also had the final say when they scored on the last play to make it 37-19 at full time. While management will be happy overall they will know they will need a similar performance or better when they travel to play league leaders Skerries in Dublin next Saturday.

Our 20s travelled to Musgrave Park to play Highfield in the last league game on the plastic pitch, needing only a point to qualify for the final, the lads some who had to play less than 24 hrs earlier did just that with a losing bonus point 26-19
