The following is a snippet from the Turku Eagles Rugby football club based in Finland where former Bruff RFC player John O’Callaghan is now plying his trade.

Turku Eagles

Primary Position: Blindside Flanker
John was an answer to Jussi’s prayers from the rugby gods. They had asked for an experienced loose forward and that’s what the Eagles got in the spring of 2015. As a player John is a threat to any Finnish pack. His wit and eye for the game teach the most experienced Eagles something in every game. A force to be reckoned with.

Secondary Positions: Number 8

John O Callaghan

Awards: Forward of the Year 2015

We wish John continued success with his playing career in Finland and who knows he might possibly bring a touring team from the Turku Eagles to Kilballyowen sometime in the near future.

With most teams finished rugby for the season the under 18’s have two cup finals to look forward to.

First up is the North Munster closed cup(limited to non-senior schools players). The game will be played this Friday night at 7pm in Dooradoyle Vs Shannon. Bruff have already secured the league title at this level but will take nothing for granted when they take on a very improved Shannon side. All support is welcome

Bruff and Shannon will also contest the open cup final in a separate fixture, time and date TBC.

Bruff made it to the final thanks to a 23-15 win over Garryownen in the semi final played on Bank Holiday Monday night. Bruff had trys from Johnny Bulfin, Mike O Grady (2) and Odhran Ring in a cracker of a game played in Dooradoyle.

We would urge all supporters to come out and shout on your club.. 🙂
