Bruff were at home to Young Munster in the semi final of the north Munster league.

Young Munster scored first with a breakaway try from their fullback, he also kicked the conversion. Bruff responded well and their pack was dominant in all facets of the game. They eventually got an unconverted try in the corner from No. 8 Dave Barrett. Young Munster were awarded a penalty on Bruff’s 10m line which they duly kicked over making the score 10 : 5 to Young Munster at half time.

Bruff came out strongly after the break. They won their own line out inside their own half and the pack drove down to Young Munster 22 resulting in Bruff being awarded a penalty. Bruff kicked for the corner , after winning the the line out Bruff formed a driving maul and pushed towards the line. Eventually Bruff were awarded a penalty try which was converted by John Bateman, 12 : 10 to Bruff. Young Munster replied with another break away try which was converted. 17 : 12 to Young Munster. Bruff fought back with great character, butchering a few chances, including a disallowed try. Their persistence paid off and they scored an unconverted try in the corner to level the game.  Although the game was a draw, Bruff were awarded the game because they had scored more try’s.  We would also like to wish Patrick Lloyd a speedy recovery from the injury he sustained during the game.
