The 1st team cemented their place at the top of the 3rd division with their fifth straight win in the AIL. Played away in terrible conditions it took only 2 minutes for the opening score to come. Waterpark conceded a penalty inside their 22 and Tony Cahill took the opportunity to take a quick tap. He gave the ball to Paul O Brien who went over in the corner. 5-nil to Bruff. If  Bruff thought they were going to have it their own way they were wrong. Waterpark enjoyed their longest period of possession for the next 10 minutes. But for some tremendous defence by Bruff it could have been a different game. The next score came 16 minutes into the game. Bruff battled there way up to the Waterpark 22 and after a number of quick rucks Finbarr Hogan went over the line on the right wing. Already the writing was on the wall for Waterpark. Try number 3 came in the 22nd minute. The pack got a good drive on from a lineout about 20 metre’s out. With Waterpark on the back foot the ball was released to the Bruff backs. A well worked move ended with Brendan Deady hitting the line at pace and going in under the posts.17-0 to the visitors and that’s how it stayed until half time. The second half started as the first had finished, with bruff on the front foot. The bonus point try came in the fifth minute of the second half. Cathal O Regan got on the end of a maul from a lineout and drove over from 5 yards out.Try’s 5&6 came from Eoin Cahill and Mikey Carroll respectively. Final score Bruff 34 Waterpark 0.

  1. Thanks for the good report. Those of us following from a long way off only ever get snippets in the usual press/websites. Those tend to go quiet after the first few weeks until the final run in. Keep up the good work. C’mon Bruff

  2. Well done and thanks for a very well laid out report on the game. I didn’t manage to get there, was recovering from the late night at the wedding where we crossed the border into Cork. I’m in the “rats” ever since, met the lads afterwards in clarkies on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
