Everyone at Bruff RFC would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Monty Tierney who passed away peacefully at Milford Care Centre, Limerick on September 1st 2021.Not only a great supporter of the club dating back many years he was also the man in charge of driving the bus to take our senior players to many a game. Whether it was a trip North, South, East or West Monty was never late and had his timing down to a fine art. If you were behind time, no better man to find an extra gear from somewhere to make up the time. Such was his relationship with the players he would often be seen in the middle of the team huddle before and after a game offering words of encouragement and joining in a bar of the wild colonial boy. While most drivers would take the opportunity to rest, Monty was up and down the side-line keeping the boys going. He never once complained about the incessant noise coming from the back of the bus on the long trips home from places like Belfast, Dublin or Sligo but rather enjoyed the crack and the banter as much as everyone else on the bus. On Saturday’s of a home game he would always make the effort to come along and support when he could. He will be sorely missed by us all- May he rest in peace
