Bruff 11, Cork Constitution 5

The 1st XV were away to Cork Con on Saturday night in the ¼ final of the MSC. The last time the 2 teams met at this stage of the competition was in 2010 when Bruff emerged victorious on a score line of 11-5.

Unfortunately history was not to repeat itself in Temple hill on Saturday as the boys lost out on a score line of 30-8.

Bruff were down 18-8 at half time with Cons running in 3 tries and landing 2 penalties. Bruff replied with a Penalty from Paul Downes and a Try from No 8 Danny Keogh. Bruff played a lot of good rugby in the closing 10 minutes of the opening half and were unlucky not to be closer at the break.

Bruff defended well in the 2nd half but were unable to hold Cons out for the full 40 mins with Cons running in 2 more tries before full time was blown.

Team was: 1.Stephen Foster 2.Johnny Clery 3.Keith Laffan 22.Barry Laffan 5.Tom O’ Dwyer 6.Mike Cooke 7.Mike Carroll 8. The seniors now turn their attention back to the UBL as they return to action next Saturday the 6th December at home in Kilballyowen at 2.30. Wanderers are the visitors in this vital clash as we try to stay in touch with the leaders in the league. Please come out and support your local club. The game will finish at 4pm so there will be plenty of time for anyone travelling to Thomond park to make the start of the Munster game. 🙂
