Bruff added another scalp to their list this season when they ground their way into the Munster Senior Cup semi-final after a hard game in Kilballyowen.

Defences from both sides took charge right from the off with the play going over and back for the first quarter of an hour before Player Coach Eoin Cahill tackled Munster signing Simon Zebo and broke away in midfield before putting Full back Brendan Deady away with a sweet pass to touch down for First Blood.

Despite strong attacking from both sides, it remained 5-0 and there it was to stay until half time despite one con touchdown being disallowed and another called back for a foot in touch nd Brian CAhill missing one penalty opportunity to stretch the Bruff lead.

Brian Cahill stretched the Bruff lead on 50 minutes when he made up for his earlier conversion miss slotting the thirty five yarder to make it a two score lead.

6  minutes later constant infringements at the ruck gave Cahill another opportunity to stretch the lead which he duly took and suddenly the constant Bruff pressure seemed like it was paying off in spades.

Five minutes later Cons finally got on the board after grinding their way from the Bruff 22 to allow Frank Cogan to touch donw in the corner, Lane not converting however left them with a lot to do.

on 75 minutes we thought the game was all over when Bruff winger broke clear of the Bruff twenty two and looked like having a clear run tot he line only for the play to be called back for a Cons Scrum on the twenty two.

Bruff finished strongest again and the strong cons defence spared their blushes inside their twenty two a couple of times before the final whistle blew on 84 minutes to give Bruff their step into the Semi-Final.

Final sCore Bruff 11 Cons 5,

Scorers Try: Brendan Deady, Brian Cahill 2 pens.

It’s back to Brass tacks next week with round 5 of the AIL away to Galwegians.

I will get the missing sets of Photos up over the next couple of days, things have been a little strained here with all the extra work and messing over the Autumn international tickets over the last few weeks.
