We would like to thank the players from both teams and officials that had a minutes silence on Saturday to remember the passing of Ned Rea. May he rest in peace.

There’s a long standing tradition of senior rugby at Bruff and last Saturday afternoon was no different, following on from a busy mornings rugby at the clubhouse our senior team had the pleasure of hosting Tullamore RFC who are in the top half of the table from the start of the season. After a Bonus point win at home to Bangor RFC, Tullamore RFC travelled to Bruff RFC for a tough away fixture. Bruff made some changes to the side that started last week but it shows that there is strong competition for places at the club. Bruff started strong with a try after 6 mins from Jack O’Grady after our forwards took a line-out and couple of strong pick and drives to get Bruff on the scoreboard early with Jack going in close to the posts and a successful conversion. The first quarter saw us get a penalty after 13 mins with a successful kick from Adam O’ Dwyer bringing the score line to 10nil to Bruff. It was Tullamore’s turn to turn the screws and twenty mins into the first half after some prolonged pressure they got the result they needed with a try at the top end of the pitch by the training ground this was followed by another try with a missed conversion which brought the score to 10 a piece. Second half Penalty from Adam O ‘Dwyer for persistent infringement at the breakdown on the Tullamore 22. Tensions were tight now with such a close game as Tullamore evened the scores with 13 a piece with a penalty of their own. Late in the half it wasn’t to be Bruff’s day that they needed. Another penalty came from the boot of their 10 Craig Strong to give Tullamore the win on the Day.
