Saturday 22nd March 2014 was another proud day for Bruff RFC when our Under
15s and Under 18s Bruff Girls joined with Bantry Bay RFC to compete in the
Munster Development Blitz against Listowel RFC and Cashel RFC. This was the
first of hopefully many matches for Bruff RFC Girls, who impressed with
their skills and endeavour on the day.

This Saturday 19th April 2014 the Munster Girls Development Blitz will be
hosted by Bruff RFC, where both Under 15s and Under 18s girls will be
playing a couple of matches. As Bruff RFC Girls are still working towards 2
full teams, our girls will again be joined with another team to play their
matches. Do drop in if you have a chance to give them your encouragement
and support, matches scheduled to start at 11:00hr, last match should be
finished by 14:00hr.

After this blitz there will be 1 more opportunity for the girls to play, in
a Munster Girls Development Blitz scheduled for 10th May 2014. We are
building numbers for next year, any girls aged 11-18 are welcome to join
us. Spread the word!! An Brú Abú.

Last Friday November 15th, Bruff played host to Cashel in the Women’s Development League. It was a great game, keanly contested by well matched sides. 11 mins in Cashel took advantage of some weak defending to score a converted try 0-7. After 24 mins Niamh Raleigh put her poacher skills to use, taking advantage of a Cashel error to touch down in the corner. Catherine Quinn narrowly missed the conversion. 5 mins into the second half Niamh Gleeson barrelled over the line following a well worked maul off a line out to make the scores 10-7. Audrey Dempsey extended the lead to 13-7 on the 26th minute with a penalty. Cashel battered Bruff line for final 5 minutes & 1 minute into injury time they managed to capitalize on some lax Bruff defending to touch down under the posts. The following conversion saw Cashel take the win by a point 13-14.

Fantastic display from Bruff Women’s Team in very wet conditions. The work they have been putting in at training was obvious with some outstanding passes made. Final score St. Mary’s 0 – 29 Bruff. Trys from Sarah Collins(2) Eileen O’Gorman, Audrey Dempsey & Fiona Neenan, Conversions(2) from Audrey Dempsey.

Next match is on Friday the 15th at 8pm in Kilballyowen against current league leaders Cashel. We’d love to see all the club out giving their support.

Training continues this week on Tuesday 12th at 8pm and we welcome anyone interested in taking up the sport to come and ‘give it a try’
