U16′s won out their league this weekend without losing a match. They travelled to Shanagolden to take on Estuary and came away the victors on a scoreline of: Estuary 5 – 29 Bruff. Two tries by Brian Fanning, a try by Liam O’Dwyer and Paul Downes had one try and three conversions and a penalty to his credit made sure they continued their vicorious campaign.

Well done to the lads and many thanks to Timmy, Tom, Pat and Brian and also to the parents for all the help catering for the games during the year. Best of luck to Liam, Mikie and Shane and the U17′s in the All Ireland Final next weekend.

Bruff beat Bucaneers in Kilballyowen 20 – 18 on a cold showery afternoon and made history while confirming their place in the UBL 1B league. Bucaneers never beaten by Bruff were first on the scoreboard, and lead to halftime Bruff 7 Buccaneers 15.  Bruff’s never give up attitude paid off, with a tries by Mark Cosgrove and Brian Cahill and when Brian Cahill converted one could sense that Bruff could hang on to maintain their right to play first division rugby.  The last three minutes Bucaneers gave it their all and an audible sigh of relief and cheers of congratulations could be heard when the referee blew the whistle for fulltime.

Scorers: Bruff: Tries: John Shine, Mark Cosgrave, Brian Cahill; Con: Brian Cahill; Pen: Brian Cahill

Buccaneers: Tries: Paul Harte 2; Con: Jack Carty; Pens: Jack Carty
