My name is Mike O’Hehir and it is my privilege, and my pleasure, to be the Bruff R.F.C President for 2021/22.

I follow in the illustrious footsteps of Mickey Cahill and I am delighted – and relieved – to say that Mickey is not “walking away” and will still very much be around Kilballyowen next season and I look forward to relying on his wise counsel , I am deeply honored to have been asked to be President of the Rugby club for the next 2 years.  I want to thank the executive committee for placing their trust in me to fulfil this role. I would like to say a special thanks to my wife Patricia. for her tremendous support during my playing days and her encouragement to me in taking on the role of Presidency of the Club. I have been involved with the club from its infancy.  The club has provided me with a lifetime of memories and so many great friends.

There is a sadness in remembering those friends who have passed but as I have always said ‘they will never be forgotten’ . I would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing Ladies committee who have given sterling service to the club. In these very challenging times, I want to wish all the players and coaches of our underage, our ladies’ teams, and coaches and all our adult teams and their coaches the best of luck in all their competitions. To all the various committees in the club let me say you do fantastic work and without that work the club would not be as strong as it is. We have tremendous sponsors and again without this financial help we would not survive.  Finally, I would like to pay tribute to all the volunteers that do Trojan work in the clubhouse and around the grounds.

We have a great reputation for being a very welcoming club and I intend to play my part in continuing that tradition.

As mentioned above, it is my pleasure to be your President and I look forward to seeing you at Bruff RFC this season.

Mike O’Hehir

President, Bruff R.F.C.
