Looks like the boss coach has got a major extension to his contract taking him the 2011 world cup and beyond.

Hmm, it wasn’t that long ago that there was a load of us screaming for his head in the pavilion at half time in the game in Paris when we were twenty odd points to nil down……If I remember rightly that was the Paul O’ Connell women-swooning-at-the-sight-of him-with-shirt-off-day.
Hooky will be frothing at the mouth considering the rollicking he gave O’ Sullivan on Friday night.

Anyway, whether you like it or not, it looks like we’re with him for a while. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment.

There is a Friendly game/Training match Between the Shannon and Bruff 1st XV’s this coming Friday night, I don’t have the exact K.O. time but I would assume that it’ll be set for about 6:30~ , I’ll update this when I get more info. This will tie in nicely with the warmup planned for the clubhouse afterwards. Nice way to ease ourselves all back into the season as well as preparing the body for the coming weekend in Dublin.

A scintillating 5-0 win over Charleville in the first home game of the season. We had the delightful view of Eoin Cahill as referee, Badger as Out-Half and even the infamous Máirtín making a return to number 8. Then to crown it all off (Break out the holy water) J. D. togged off after bringing his youngster with him. Trevor came out, togged off and replaced him at half time…., what will we have next, will the Davv Herlihy be making an appearance in the early season, to match his younger brother on the opposite wing???? I can hardly wait……Exciting times indeed (Hey, maybe we’ll even see Paul O’ Shea or Young O’ Malley and some more returning to don a jersey, stranger things have happened).

Well done to Des Power on his recruitment skills, We’ll hafta promote him.

The Season has officially begun!

RTÉ Sport: Ireland 23-20 Italy

Now, I have seen many bad displays from the Irish team over the last twenty years and I think that this has to be one of the worst ever. No energy, no creativity, Nothing to show for what in the finish ended up a travesty with the granting of that try by Derek Bevan (Whom I have always had the greatest respect).

I have looked at it over and over and I am convinced that O’ Gara lost control in the field of play and that the ball travelled forward over the goal line and hit the ground before he touched it, thereby a knock on. I am very disappointed for the Italians but them’s the breaks. It’s just as well that this meant nothing and that no-one was hurt.

I can only hope that looking back at this gives them some B**ls for the game against Argentina but the way they played tonight Georgia and Namibia are looking suspect. Can the loss of one man account for such a change in displays? If so, we’re in big trouble if anything else goes wrong and someone else gets hurt.

I’ll tell you, I’d lay money on the Italians coming out of the Scotland/All-blacks group if the odds weren’t so low.
